Common Homeowners Insurance Questions:

What is NOT Covered on my Homeowner Insurance Policy?

Every homeowner’s policy is unique and many of your coverages and limits will be determined by which carrier you end up selecting.  Most standard homeowner’s policies are written as an HO-3 which is known as an “Open Peril” policy.  This means your policy will cover most things unless it is specifically excluded from the policy.  The excluded damages include but are not limited to Earthquake, Flood, Water/Sewer Back-up, and Intentional Acts.  However, many carriers offer optional coverages which can cover these cases.  Talk with you agent about your needs and anything you are specifically concerned about and they can review your policy to make sure you are covered.

How Do I Submit a Claim If an Incident Occurs?

If an issue arises where you will need to file a claim on your policies to fund relief or repairs, you need to move as quickly as possible. The first step is to notify your agent if an incident occurs, even if you are not sure if a claim actually needs to be filed.

Your agent should guide you through the claims process, because the agents know the coverage the policy has and how it works for you. And our agency stays by our clients through every step of the process.
